Mail Force is happy to announce a grant of £500,000 to Care International to provide emergency relief in Ukraine though their partner organization People in Need, and assistance to those fleeing into Romaina from Ukraine with their partner SERA.
Beautician Anna, 31, fled Russian bombing in Odessa for safety in Romania leaving behind her mother, cat, and brother Vitalik who is staying to fight.
She is now safe in Romania and being helped by CARE International with funding from Mail Force.
‘My brother stayed to fight, and my mother wanted to stay to look after him,’ she said.
‘The outskirts of Odesa were being bombed a lot, I heard a lot of bombings. The house was shaking, and we ran to the basement when the alarms sounded. It was happening about twice a day.
‘People there are very afraid but still they stay. The women don’t want to leave their husbands and their fathers behind.
‘I want to say thank you so much for the donations. I hope that everything, this war, will stop soon. I am so afraid to lose my family members, I can’t even bear to think about it’.
With the support of The Mail on Sunday, Daily Mail and MailOnline, donations from their readers have made this the fastest newspaper backed fundraiser in world history.
We would like to thank all donors to the Mail Force Ukraine Appeal for their generosity and for helping a great many refugees like Anna.
